Introducing New Purex Crystals For Baby Review And Giveaway

Everybody I know likes to have fresh smelling laundry for the whole family, and that includes your baby's laundry!  Purex has done it again and has come out with a wonderful new product....Purex Crystals for Baby!  Purex Crystals for Baby was developed with babies' delicate soft skin in mind.  That means you can now add long-lasting freshness to your own baby's little delicate clothes and laundry.

Purex Crystals for Baby is 87% natural, as is their regular Purex Crystals.  You put it in your wash at the beginning of the cycle and it's freshness lasts for not days, but more like weeks, which is very awesome!  Purex Crystals for Baby is also hypoallergenic, dye free, and safe for all clothes, even children's sleepwear.  It is also great for sensitive skin and is very gentle.

I was delighted to get to review Purex Crystals for Baby, even though I don't have any babies any longer.  It worked wonderfully on all of my family's laundry.  The scent was very relaxing with just the right amount of freshness.  My kid's even commented how they like the scent on their clothes and want me to use it regularly.  It looks like I have a new favorite Purex Crystals product!

Purex is also hosting a consumer sweepstakes with the release of new Purex Crystals for Baby.  One grand prize winner will receive $1000 and 250 additional winners will receive free bottles of Purex Crystals for Baby.  Purex Crystals for Baby will be available at Walmart starting early February!

Easy Stir Fry Vegetables Over Rice

Veggies Cooking
one or two packages (8 oz.) fresh mushrooms (I get the ones sliced)
2 red peppers
2 yellow peppers
2 orange peppers
4 medium onions
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 to 3 tbsp. soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste
dash of garlic powder
dash of red cayenne pepper

Finished and Delicious Over Rice
Put two tbsp.of olive oil in electric frying pan.  Slice peppers and onions into thin strips and put in electric frying pan.   Add mushrooms, soy sauce, and spices.  Cook covered for about ten minutes and then uncovered till tender and water from vegetables is steamed away (about half an hour or so).   This makes enough for my family of five.  I serve over rice.   Sometimes I add a chicken breast or a boneless pork chop cut into cubes.

EMMY ROSSUM SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY CD REVIEW

Emmy Rossum's new album Sentimental Journey will be released Tuesday, January 29th but I was lucky enough to get a chance to review it early and was excited to do so!

I've found out that Emmy Rossum is a name I won't forget.  She is a multi-talented actress and singer and is also known for her role as Fiona Gallagher on Showtime's Shameless with William H. Macy.  She also stars with Emma Thompson and Viola Davis in the upcoming feature film Beautiful Creatures, which starts in theaters February 13.  Emmy's Sentimental Journey CD has some wonderful old retro tunes that I really enjoyed listening to.  Here is a list of the songs on Sentimental Journey CD.

  • Sentimental Journey
  • The Object of My Affection
  • I'm Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover
  • These Foolish Thing (Remind Me Of You)
  • I'll Be With You In Apple Blossom Time
  • Summer Wind
  • Many Tears Ago
  • All I Do Is Dream Of You
  • Nobody Know You When You're Down And Out
  • Autumn Leaves (Les Feuilles Mortes)
  • Things
  • Pretty Paper
  • Keep Young And Beautiful

I really enjoyed listening to Emmy's rendition of these classic songs.  She made them her own and brought her own style to each one of them.  Her voice is so clear, crisp and relaxing.  I enjoyed all of the songs but a couple of my favorites were I'm Looking Over A Four Leaf Clover and Pretty Paper.  It was very refreshing to hear these wonderful old songs with a new twist on them.

To get this amazing CD yourself you can go to Amazon.com or iTunes.

Disclosure:   I participated in this campaign for One2One Network. I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review. By posting, I am eligible for incentives. All opinions stated are my own.

 Flowers and Winter Weight

Here in Michigan the weather has gotten into the single digits and feels even colder with the wind chill.  Thankfully we have heat, unlike the town five miles from us.  They were without power for a couple of days but I believe they got it back today.  Anyways, I looked outside and thought about my flowers from last summer.  Flowers are so beautiful and I love to look at them and just enjoy their color and beauty.  These are a couple of my pictures I took last summer of some mums I have.  The colors are so awesome.  January is nearly gone already and before you know it spring will be here.  My first spring flowers that come up are crocuses.  It's a sign that winter is over and spring is arriving.

I really don't mind winter because I'm a homebody anyways.  It's kind of like hibernating like the bears and other animals.  Then when spring comes you shed your sweaters and winter coats.  You show a lot more skin in the summer, which means I should start trying to lose some pounds.  It seems like the older you get the harder it is to lose a "few" pounds.  Those pounds  just re-distribute in different parts of your body.   You can't just eat whatever you want to like you used to be able to do.  I should start real
soon to diet........first I plan on making some Valentine cookies with chocolate hearts on them (for the kids of course).  I might have to sample them first.

DO YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE?

I wish this fireplace was in my home but alas, it was in a restaurant that I went to today.  I always wanted a fireplace in my home but the only thing I got close to is having an electric fake fireplace.  This fireplace was so nice and cozy, especially in cold Michigan where we live.  There's something about watching the glow of the fire and feeling the warmth coming from it.  It would be so nice to take a relaxing nap in a recliner in front of it.  I got to eat my lunch in front of it today and that was very nice indeed.

It must been something years ago before modern times to only have a fireplace to heat the entire home.  Of course, homes probably weren't very big anyways unless you were wealthy.  The wealthy people probably had fireplaces in lots of rooms.  Someone had to chop the wood and stack it neatly in piles.  Then they had to clean the fireplace and take out the ashes.  In movies I've seen chimney sweeps which must have been a dirty job also.

Now that I think about it, maybe my little electric fake fireplace is enough for me.  I don't want to get any wood or chop some trees down any time soon.  Also the thought of cleaning a fireplace doesn't sound like too much fun either.   It would be nice though in the winter time here in Michigan!  Right now I have to be satisfied at looking at the fake flames of my electric fireplace.

How about any of you?  Do you have a real fireplace or do you enjoy the fake flames of an electric fireplace like I have?

Good Flavor! Morningstar Farms Prime Grillers Review

I'm a BzzAgent and recently got my first campaign to review Morningstar Farms products.  Well, this was the perfect product to review for me since I do not like to eat hamburgers anymore.  I haven't eaten a real hamburger for a couple of years now.  The reason is that I can't stand to bite into grizzle or hard stuff.  Yech!  It never failed when I ate a regular hamburger and I don't miss them at all.  Plus I am trying to lose some weight and eat more healthy.
Thumbs Up For Morningstar Farms

For my review I received a coupon for a free Morningstar Farms product and also got some $1.00 coupons to give away.  My choice was Morningstar Farms Prime Grillers.  They came in a nice box that fit easily into my freezer.  I made two burgers and gave one to my husband to try.  It was very easy to make.  All you do is put them in a non-stick pan and cook till hot, or you can make them in a microwave.  There was even a nice outer crust on them when I cooked them, like a regular hamburger.

My Morningstar Prime Grillers Veggie Burger On A Nice Fresh Bun
Hubby had his and put ketchup and mustard on it with a fresh hamburger bun warmed up.  He thought they were tasty but not juicy like a regular burger, although he enjoyed it.  I had mine the same way with a slice of onion on it and thought they were tasty!  The flavor was just right and not overpowering.  To me, I couldn't tell it was a veggie burger and not real meat.  I loved that I didn't bite into some grizzle either.

So there you have it!  Morningstar Farms would be something that I would try again!  My husband may or may not try them.  Two different people with two different opinions!

Disclosure:  I am a BzzAgent and  received product coupons for my review but opinions are 100% my one.

I Only See A Movie When...........

One Of My Son's DVD/Blu-Ray Collection

Today I saw a movie today at a theater with my husband and children (they're young adults).  We don't go to see many movies since it's expensive and there really aren't a lot of good ones.  Occasionally though, my family wants to see one that sounds really good.  It helps that we have a movie card where you get points on when you see a movie, so we had enough points to get 3 free sodas and a big tub of popcorn.

Yesterday hubby and the kids were talking about a movie called Django Unchained.  I had not heard of it since I don't keep up with the latest movies.  Usually I only watch television movies on TCM or the DVD's or Blu-rays that my kids have bought.   My sons have quite a collection of their own DVDs and Blu-rays.  You might call my sons movie buffs since they are really into movies and are both going to college for digital video production.  My daughter also knows a lot about movies.  She knows trivia about movies that I'm surprised at.  Even from really old movies and silent films.

Anyways,  I asked my daughter what the name of the movie was and she said Django Unchained.  I thought she said Django Unchanged.  I didn't have a clue to what it was about but thought if they want to see it, it must be pretty good.  All she said was Jamie Fox, Leonardo DiCapprio, Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson were in it.  Now this was a big plus right there!

The movie kept my attention through the whole thing and I didn't even take a bathroom break, which I usually have to do!  If you were thinking of going to see Django Unchained I really think you might like it.  The story line is set in pre-Civil War days and was written by Quentin Tarantino.  Two other movies I've seen that he made are Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.  Another one is Inglourious Basterds and I'll have to watch it on Blu-ray since the kids said it's really good too.  This movie is not for little kids though, so I wouldn't take any children unless they're older teenagers.  It is rated R and there are a lot of shooting and blood scenes in it which I don't care for but the movie was really good to me.  I would see it again today if I could.  I know my kids will get this Blu-ray when it comes out!

Sell Some of Your Treasures.....Make Some Money

I like to browse estate sales or thrift stores and purchase items if they aren't too expensive.  It's kind of another hobby I have besides blogging.  Sometimes I keep my "treasures" purchased and then sometimes I put some items on eBay to see if I can make a little money.  Below are some things I recently purchased and put on eBay.  If that's something you like to do it's a fun hobby in the winter.

The Kismet game was only $1.00 at an estate sale and it was like new in the box.  It sold on eBay for $12.99.
1970's Kismet Game

I bought this vintage milk glass fire king prayer cup at a thrift ship for 59 cents and hopefully it will sell.  Milk glass is very collectible.  (Update, I sold it for $4.99)

This 100th Anniversary Girl Scouts metal case was $1.99 at a thrift store.

Girl Scouts 100th Anniversary Tin Case

I bought these old Tab soda glasses for 59 cents each at a thrift store.

These vintage books were 25 cents each at a thrift store.  They are from the 70's and 80's.

Vintage Little Golden Books

This cute old piggy bank was about a $1.00 and I've seen some sell for over $10.00.

20 Mule Team Borax Review and Giveaway

I have always wanted to try 20 Mule Team Borax and didn't really know anything about this product.  Do you know what Borax is?  I didn't either!  20 Mule Team Borax is 100% natural mineral from the earth.  When it is removed from the ground it is washed, dried, and boxed for consumers like you and me.

Borax is the common name for sodium tetraborate which is a naturally occurring substance produced by the perpetual evaporation of seasonal lakes.  Is anything added?  No, absolutely nothing is added.  No phosphates, chlorine, or any other additive chemicals.

I received a very nice box of 20 Mule Team Borax to review and was pleasantly surprised at how it worked.  Where I live our water is hard and leaves soap scum on everything!  Did you know that hard water affects laundry?  When you add detergent to hard water, some of the compounds attach to calcium and magnesium granules that settle on the bottom of your washing machine, eventually retreating down the drain without actually cleaning your clothes.  That makes a lot of wasted laundry detergent.

To boost your laundry detergent, simply add 1/2 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax to every load, along with your regular detergent.  It naturally softens the hard water and improves your detergent's cleaning power.

I tried this method to a load of my bathroom towels and it really turned out to be a positive experience.  My towels seemed to be more fresher, cleaner, and even fluffier!  They even smelled better to me.  When my family took a shower they also commented how the towels seemed to be cleaner and fresher to them.

After washing towels I used 20 Mule Team Borax on my bathtub and shower and it really did clean the soap scum and got it cleaner.  I just sprinkled some in the tub and used a cloth to scrub the grime away.

If you would like to learn more about 20 Mule Team Borax, which I'm sure you do, just go right here now! You'll find out about so many other ways to use this fabulous product, such as cleaning in the kitchen for dishes, pots and pans, sinks and more!  It can also be used as a dishwasher detergent booster and in your carpet steam cleaners.  Pet areas can be cleaned with 20 Mule Team Borax to keep them odor free.

GIVEAWAY:  If you would like a chance to win a coupon for a box of 20 Mule Team Borax for yourself just enter the easy Rafflecopter below.  Giveaway ends Jan. 21, 2013.
